Our Story

QiSOFT Is Born!

While 1986 doesn’t seem like so long ago, when you consider it in the context of technological advancements it was like the dark ages. Computers were often room-sized for industrial uses and film was still the preferred form of data storage. So, when QiSOFT CEO, Kevin Luxton and his uncle, statistician Peter Daisley successfully collaborated to produce the specification for QIS, it was quite the discovery.

First QIS System Installation!

Built ‘on-the-ground’ in an upstate New York paper mill who became QiSOFT’s first customer! The mill couldn’t keep up with the data it produced so product was being sent out without knowing if there was a problem or not. Kevin and team worked to apply the easy-to-use, real-time, fully connected software system to improve the Mill’s process start to finish. “You don’t get better testing ground than that,” stated one of the mills IT team at the time.

Statistics For The Masses!

1989 saw several new customers coming on-board, spurring the growth of QiSOFT as a business. Combining the statistical knowledge and background of Peter Daisley with the new Quality System from Kevin gave manufacturing sites in the know the upper hand over their competitors. Kevin’s dream of bringing statistics to the masses started to become a reality.

The Growth Continues

Over the next five years, QiSOFT would continue its growth with installations in Europe at the Dover Paper Mill, England, and another in Luxembourg followed quickly by the development of the first QIS for Windows*. This year also saw the launch of ProcessLink and LabLink as part of QIS v4.3.

10 Years On!     

Ten years after the inaugural install, March 1997, QiSOFT opened its first US office in Atlanta, Georgia and that same year completed its first South American installation in Columbia

QIS v5.5 Launched

Early on it the start of the new century, QIS v5 was launched along with the development of QR2 following QiSOFT’s acquisition of QCS and the company’s relocation to Savannah, Georgia.

QIS v6.0 Launched

The continuous development of the system continued with the launch of QIS v6.0 in 2005. This year also marked the first Australian installations of QIS in Melbourne and Adelaide.

California, Holland – The World!

In 2008, as new system versions continued to emerge, so too did the expansion of QiSOFT’s software applications. As the customer base began to grow wider across the globe, the company’s second US office was opened in Orange County, California and a second European office was also opened in Breda, Netherlands.

The Switch to Agile

Traditional software development methods could not quite keep up with all the great developments that the QiSOFT team wanted to deliver. A switch to Agile Software Development was a key strategic move to maximize the teams responsiveness to change and technological advances - improving productivity, reducing time-to-market and really focussing on customer satisfaction.

QIS Goes Mobile

Mobile computing devices are becoming a necessity in many manufacturing plants globally, giving real-time access to the technology and information shop-floor teams need to work smarter.  Data can be collected and reviewed around the manufacturing floor where you don’t have easy access to work stations, and transferred back to your central QIS for site wide visibility.
